Housing Solutions Officer

About the role

The Council is seeking a proactive Housing Solutions Officer to work with households facing homelessness or at risk of losing their homes. You will provide comprehensive advice, help retain current accommodation, or secure alternative housing, while meeting performance targets and supporting service development.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with households to deliver advice and practical steps to prevent or relieve homelessness.
• Manage a caseload of applicants under the Homelessness Reduction Act.
• Participate in a duty rota for ‘homeless on the day’ interviews.
• Conduct thorough homelessness investigations in line with statutory guidance.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Utilise new technologies to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in housing, social work, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in housing solutions or homelessness services.
• Familiarity with legislation related to homelessness and housing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
