Housing Support Worker / Coach

About the role

New Start is seeking a Housing Support Worker / Coach to join its 24/7 supported accommodation hostel in Liverpool. You will work directly with vulnerable adults, helping them build confidence, develop life‑skills and move towards independent, permanent housing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of residents, inspiring positive change within a psychologically informed environment.
• Support residents to settle, create daily routines and pursue realistic goals.
• Provide harm‑reduction education and guide those considering recovery from substance misuse.
• Develop personalised, strengths‑based support plans for long‑term accommodation and resettlement.
• Conduct trauma‑aware needs and risk assessments and keep them up to date.
• Explore education, training and employment pathways with residents.
• Assist residents in maintaining benefits, tenancy and basic financial responsibilities.
• Refer residents to specialist agencies when needs exceed the service remit.

Required profile

• Experience working as a housing support worker or in a similar role with vulnerable adults.
• Ability to coach, motivate and empower individuals toward positive outcomes.
• Understanding of trauma‑informed practice and harm‑reduction principles.
• Commitment to working in a 24/7 hostel environment.
