HR Advisor – Employee Relations & Compliance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join a values‑driven organisation in Canterbury. The role is hands‑on and generalist, focusing on employee relations, compliance and day‑to‑day HR operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence and capability, following the ACAS Code of Practice.
• Advise and coach line managers on employment law, risk and best practice.
• Oversee safer recruitment compliance, DBS processing, right‑to‑work checks and maintain the Single Central Register.
• Draft contracts, offer letters and other employment documentation.
• Administer payroll changes, family leave and contract variations.
• Support change management, restructuring and redundancy processes.
• Maintain the HRIS and ensure data integrity in line with UK GDPR.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent experience); Level 7 desirable.
• Strong employee relations case‑management experience with solid knowledge of the ACAS Code.
• Confident, professional and discreet when handling sensitive matters.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and compliance discipline.
• Experience in the education sector and safeguarding (KCSIE) is an advantage.

Required skills

• HRIS (HR Information System) proficiency.
