HR Advisor – Independent School (Sevenoaks)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join the HR team of a prestigious independent school in Sevenoaks. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong HR generalist who enjoys building relationships, providing practical people advice, and managing a varied employee‑relations caseload within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional HR advice across the full employee life‑cycle.
• Manage employee‑relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, probation and flexible‑working matters.
• Oversee attendance, sickness‑absence management and related reporting.
• Support managers in driving performance and implementing best‑practice people management.
• Advise on UK employment legislation, HR policies and procedures.
• Assist with pay, reward administration, contractual changes and payroll‑related activities.
• Produce HR reports and management information for decision‑making.
• Contribute to HR projects, policy development and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records and the Single Central Register.

Required profile

• Confident and credible HR professional with strong employee‑relations experience.
• CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent HR experience).
• Proven experience as a generalist HR Advisor.
• Significant experience managing employee‑relations casework independently.
• Strong background in sickness‑absence and attendance management.
• Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

• Competitive salary £38,000‑£41,000 per annum.
• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 9:00 am‑5:00 pm.
• Hybrid working – one day per week remote after successful onboarding.
