HR Advisor

About the role

The HR Advisor will work within the People Services function of a police organisation, partnering with senior leaders to navigate complex people matters and shape a high‑performing workforce. This role offers the chance to apply HR expertise in a dynamic environment where advice directly impacts staff, the organisation, and the community.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leaders to provide trusted advice across a broad range of people matters.
• Build strong relationships that enable managers to handle employee‑relations issues confidently and consistently.
• Contribute to workforce planning and organisational initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.
• Use workforce data and insight to identify trends, manage risk, and support evidence‑based decision making.
• Collaborate with colleagues across People Services and other business areas to deliver a professional, consistent people service.
• Coach and empower managers to develop confidence, capability, and accountability in leading their teams.

Required profile

• Experienced HR professional with a collaborative approach and sound judgement.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence decision‑making at senior levels.
• Strong understanding of employment law, HR best practice, and the balance between organisational priorities and fairness.
• Comfortable working in a large, fast‑paced organisation with competing priorities.
