About the role

We are supporting a well‑known retail business in hiring an experienced HR Advisor to join their People team. The role is focused on employee relations across a multi‑site retail operation, providing commercial‑focused HR advice and coaching to managers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied employee‑relations caseload across stores, field and head‑office teams.
• Provide expert guidance to managers on investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and performance issues.
• Coach managers to handle performance, conduct and capability conversations confidently.
• Facilitate early resolution of workplace issues through mediation and proactive intervention.
• Produce high‑quality investigation reports, outcome letters and supporting documentation.
• Monitor ER trends, absence and attrition data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Influence and challenge stakeholders to ensure fair and consistent decision‑making.
• Support wider HR initiatives that enhance business performance and culture.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an HR Advisor or employee‑relations focused role.
• Strong knowledge of employee relations and ability to manage cases independently.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment, preferably retail.
• Good understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Natural relationship builder who can influence and support managers.
