HR Manager – Multi‑site role in Preston

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join a market‑leading FMCG distributor headquartered in Preston. This full‑time, permanent position will support multiple UK sites, driving the People Plan and ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategy aligned to business goals.
• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding, training and development initiatives.
• Act as trusted advisor on employee relations, handling complex cases and ensuring legal compliance.
• Draft, maintain and communicate HR policies, procedures and documentation.
• Manage performance management processes, including appraisals and reviews.
• Support succession planning, talent development and employee engagement strategies.
• Oversee compensation, benefits and payroll coordination.
• Maintain accurate HR systems, reporting and data compliance.
• Deliver training sessions and workshops to managers and teams.
• Lead HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5+ (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as an HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law.
• Experience handling complex employee‑relations cases.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information.
