HR Manager – Operational & Strategic Role

About the role

We are partnering with a purpose‑led organisation in the North East to find an experienced HR Manager. Reporting to the HR Director, you will provide high‑quality operational HR support across several sites, handling complex employee‑relations cases and shaping HR policy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and resolve complex HR casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence and safeguarding matters.
• Provide expert advice to managers and senior leaders on employment law and best practice, liaising with legal advisors and unions as required.
• Maintain casework trackers, produce regular reports for senior leadership and ensure accurate documentation of investigations.
• Review, update and embed HR policies in line with statutory changes, delivering training and communication to ensure accessibility.
• Develop toolkits, templates and flowcharts to support policy implementation.
• Deliver training sessions and one‑to‑one coaching for line managers on HR processes and sensitive issues.
• Contribute to workforce planning, change management and organisational development initiatives.
• Analyse trends in casework and policy usage to inform strategic HR decisions.

Required profile

• CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Proven experience managing complex employee‑relations cases and developing HR policies.
• Excellent communication, coaching and influencing abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple sites and with diverse stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence.
