HR Manager (Part‑time, 20 hrs/week)

About the role
The HR Manager will align Yehudi Menuhin School’s workforce with its strategic objectives, overseeing the full employee lifecycle, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation.
Key responsibilities
- Support the HR Administrator in maintaining the Single Central Register and safeguarding compliance.
- Keep HR policies and the Staff Handbook up‑to‑date and legally compliant.
- Maintain accurate staff records, contracts, FTE data and personnel files.
- Advise on contractual and salary changes, documenting all amendments.
- Monitor National Minimum Wage updates and assess impact on staff.
- Assist managers with performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, induction, probation and exit processes.
- Coordinate right‑to‑work checks, mandatory training and compliance documentation.
- Administer staff benefit schemes, including Medicash and BUPA.
- Line‑manage the HR Administrator and collaborate with the Director of Wellbeing on engagement initiatives.
- Prepare HR KPI reports for senior leadership and ensure GDPR compliance for employee data.
- Stay current with changes to employment legislation.
Required profile
- Comprehensive understanding of UK employment law.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Professional, confidential and effective communication.
- Experience of line management.
- Desirable: CIPD Level 5 qualification and experience in an educational or multi‑site organisation.
Required skills
- Knowledge of UK employment legislation.
- Experience with HR policy development and maintenance.
- Familiarity with GDPR requirements for employee data.
