HR Manager – SME Business

About the role

As the HR Manager for a growing SME in the healthcare sector, you will lead and develop the People function, providing comprehensive HR support across the organisation. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation while supporting organisational growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the HR function to align with business objectives.
• Serve as the first point of contact for all HR‑related matters and advise managers on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary processes and grievances.
• Maintain and develop HR policies, procedures and documentation to ensure legal compliance and best practice.
• Manage the HR Information System (BrightHR) and ensure data integrity.
• Oversee the full employee lifecycle – recruitment, onboarding, development, retention and off‑boarding.
• Contribute to Senior Leadership Team meetings, providing updates on staffing, people initiatives and organisational risks.
• Support business projects and strategic initiatives from a people perspective.
• Promote company values and culture across all areas of the business.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an HR function within an SME environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior managers and influence business decisions.
• Experience managing the employee lifecycle from recruitment to off‑boarding.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
