HR Officer

About the role

The College is seeking an HR Officer to provide first‑line support to staff and new starters, handling queries and assisting with recruitment and HR administration.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for current staff and new starters, responding to queries promptly and professionally.
• Support the full recruitment cycle—from advertising to pre‑employment checks—ensuring compliance with safer recruitment guidelines and keeping managers updated on onboarding progress.
• Maintain the HR database, staff files, the staff hub and related trackers, guaranteeing records are complete, accurate and up‑to‑date.
• Track and act on key HR data, including probation periods, mandatory training, induction milestones, equality data and performance information.
• Assist in organising staff events and liaise with external agencies to support the HR function as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 3 education.
• Experience in an administrative role requiring high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow established processes using checklists and tracking systems consistently.
• Commitment to the Catholic ethos, equality, diversity and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

What we offer

• Salary on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine, pro‑rated to £27,733 – £31,324 per annum.
• 37 hours per week, full‑year contract.
