HSE Manager – Lead EHS across two manufacturing sites

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives across two manufacturing sites in Darlington. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will have the autonomy to drive improvements, ensure compliance and foster a positive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all health, safety and environmental activities across both sites.
• Maintain compliance with UK legislation and industry best practice.
• Develop and enhance EHS policies, procedures and management systems.
• Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Deliver training, inductions and toolbox talks.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management and pollution prevention.
• Produce EHS performance reports for senior management.
• Collaborate with managers and staff to promote a proactive safety culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an EHS role within manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
• NEBOSH General Certificate (Diploma advantageous).
• Strong knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Full UK driving licence for regular travel between sites.
• Excellent communication and the confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
