Humanitarian Policy & Advocacy Lead (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Christian Aid is seeking a senior professional to lead its humanitarian policy and advocacy work on a 12‑month maternity cover. Reporting to the Head of Humanitarian, you will shape strategy, influence global policy and raise the organisation’s profile across humanitarian forums.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and align the Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy strategy with the wider organisational agenda.
• Provide technical guidance and best‑practice support to Multi‑Country Cluster (MCC) teams and partners.
• Identify and source specialist support for priority programme areas, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Represent Christian Aid at global humanitarian leadership platforms and within the DEC.
• Collaborate with the ACT Alliance and other networks to enhance visibility and impact of locally‑led responses.
• Drive continuous learning and improvement across humanitarian programmes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian policy, advocacy or related fields.
• Proven ability to influence policy at regional or global levels.
• Strong understanding of locally‑led humanitarian responses and multi‑country coordination.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
