HVAC Installation Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Installation Engineer to join Johnson Controls’ VRF Installation Team in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will install, commission and maintain split, multi‑split, VRV/VRF and DX systems for commercial customers, travelling to multiple sites as required.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver HVAC projects on time and within budget, supporting multiple client sites.
• Install HVAC equipment, pipework, brackets and cabling according to defined processes and timelines.
• Carry out risk assessments, method statements and ensure health & safety compliance at all times.
• Commission air‑conditioning units, commercial refrigeration systems and ventilation plant.
• Maintain accurate records in the LD‑Control platform using an iPad.
• Provide technical guidance to customers and support working‑away assignments.

Required profile

• Proven full‑cycle HVAC installation experience (pipework, bracketry, cabling).
• F‑GAS 2079 Cat 1 qualification.
• Experience with major manufacturers such as Daikin, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric or Airedale.
• Knowledge of DX, split, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs and ventilation plant.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and piping diagrams.
• Full UK driving licence and basic IT skills.
• Self‑motivated, team‑oriented attitude.
• Preferred: NVQ Level 2 in Refrigeration or Air‑Conditioning, CSCS card, IPAF 3A/3B, SSSTS, PASMA.
