Hybrid Doctor Functional Assessor (SEP WCA)

About the role

Maximus is seeking a Registered Medical Doctor to work as a Functional Assessor for Work Capability Assessments (WCA). The position is hybrid, allowing flexible hours and a mix of remote and onsite work across the UK. You will use your clinical expertise to evaluate how health conditions affect daily life and support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in benefit decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct telephone, video or face‑to‑face assessments of claimants.
• Produce detailed WCA reports that inform DWP eligibility decisions.
• Provide clinical advice to case managers on complaints and enquiries related to PIP referrals.
• Offer feedback on complaints about healthcare professionals for professional development.

Required profile

• Valid GMC registration number.
• At least one year of post‑registration clinical experience, within or outside the NHS.
• Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software for report writing.
