Hydraulic Engineer – Industrial Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Engineer to join a growing engineering business in Avonmouth, Bristol. You will work on the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems for industrial and manufacturing environments, collaborating closely with mechanical, electrical and controls teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop hydraulic systems and components.
• Diagnose and resolve hydraulic faults on industrial machinery.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, system testing and performance analysis.
• Support installation, commissioning and refurbishment projects.
• Produce technical documentation, drawings and reports.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• HNC/HND, apprenticeship or degree in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience with hydraulic systems in industrial, manufacturing, process or heavy‑engineering settings.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, cylinders and power packs.
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
