Hygiene & Cleaning Operative - Dishpatch, Greenwich

About the role

The John Lewis Partnership is recruiting a Hygiene & Cleaning Operative for its Dishpatch site in North Greenwich, London. The role keeps the site clean, safe and compliant by carrying out cleaning schedules, helping with building management, supporting chemical management and maintaining food, health and safety standards. It is a permanent, full-time position of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday between 08:00 and 21:00, paid £12.71 to £14.80 per hour (after 90 days £14.55).

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards across warehouses, fulfilment and production zones and external spaces.
• Carry out periodic deep cleaning of critical areas as scheduled.
• Identify, report and coordinate the resolution of site defects or maintenance issues.
• Support the use of cleaning chemicals in line with company and regulatory guidelines.
• Uphold food, health and safety protocols and perform regular audits and checks.
• Provide regular reports on cleanliness, chemical inventory, team performance and inspection outcomes.
• Work with the team leader as required.

Required profile

• Knowledge of cleaning processes, chemical handling and health and safety regulations.
• Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2.
• Strong knowledge of compliance and audit processes, quick resolution of site issues, and strong time management.
• Effective communication and reporting, and collaboration with colleagues.
