Hygiene Department Manager

About the role

The Hygiene Department Manager will lead the daily cleaning operations at The Bread Factory’s new Milton Keynes site. You will ensure that hygiene standards meet the company’s high quality expectations while supporting continuous improvement across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the hygiene team, supervising team leaders and operatives to maintain high cleaning standards.
• Coordinate rotas, holidays and absences, and act as deputy for the Hygiene Manager when required.
• Deliver deep‑cleaning programmes and hygiene schedules in line with site KPIs.
• Maintain and improve SOPs and Cleaning Instruction Cards.
• Manage hygiene chemicals, consumables and PPE in accordance with COSHH, performing regular stock checks.
• Oversee hygiene audits, microbiological swabbing, incident investigations and staff training records.

Required profile

• Strong literacy and numeracy with excellent attention to detail.
• Well‑organised with effective time‑management in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confident written and verbal communicator with influencing abilities.
• Level 2 (or higher) Food Safety qualification and Level 3 HACCP.
• Minimum three years’ experience in food manufacturing, preferably in a technical or production hygiene setting.
• Internal Audit qualification and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
