ICA Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical / ICA Engineer to join the Thames Water Major Projects team at our Maple Lodge site in Rickmansworth. The role involves delivering LV electrical, control & automation, and PLC & SCADA engineering solutions for water‑industry projects, with a mix of remote work and occasional site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide feedback on LV electrical and ICA documentation, including MCC/RTU schematics, control philosophies and SCADA architecture drawings.
• Represent Kier at client meetings and conduct technical reviews of electrical and ICA installations and commissioning works.
• Perform fault finding and system configuration for MCC and ICA equipment, PLCs and control panels, and oversee communication network installations.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for MCC/RTU builds, SCADA and PLC control software to verify design criteria and operational requirements.
• Engage with the supply chain to propose innovative solutions while maintaining health & safety, environmental and quality standards.

Required profile

• HNC qualification in Electrical/Electronic, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in ICA engineering, PLCs, HMIs, Profibus networks and SCADA installations on large‑scale water treatment works.
• Strong knowledge of low‑voltage motor control centres, ICA sections and communication protocols such as Profibus, Modbus and Ethernet IP.
• Experience managing contractors and ensuring safe working practices.
