ICT Technical & Infrastructure Manager

About the role

St Albans City & District Council is seeking an experienced ICT Technical & Infrastructure Manager to lead the delivery, development and security of its ICT infrastructure and technical support services. You will shape the Council’s digital future, ensuring reliable, secure and resilient technology that meets business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and resilience of ICT infrastructure, systems, telephony and related technical services.
• Manage and develop Service Desk and Technical Support teams to provide high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
• Ensure core infrastructure is available, secure and aligned with organisational objectives.
• Oversee ICT contracts, supplier relationships, procurement activities and budgetary control.
• Support the Council’s ICT and Digital Strategy, delivering technical road‑maps and service improvements.
• Maintain cyber security, data protection, backup, disaster recovery and operational risk frameworks.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification in IT or equivalent professional experience.
• Significant experience managing ICT infrastructure, operations and service delivery.
• Proven leadership of technical teams, suppliers and project budgets.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
