About the role

The Immigration Litigation Barrister will join the Government Legal Department’s Home Office Immigration Division, representing the Home Office in high‑profile judicial review and immigration cases. You will work on complex matters ranging from asylum and deportation to nationality and human trafficking, providing expert legal advice and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Home Office in judicial review proceedings and immigration tribunals.
• Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and legal opinions on immigration law.
• Conduct detailed legal research and stay abreast of legislative developments.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers, policy teams, and external counsel to shape case strategy.
• Manage case files, evidence bundles, and procedural deadlines.

Required profile

• Qualified barrister with a solid track record in immigration or public law litigation.
• Strong analytical and advocacy skills, with experience in high‑stakes cases.
