Immunisation Staff Nurse – Primary Schools Flu

About the role

The Immunisation Staff Nurse will join the NHS Children and Families Health team to deliver the Scottish Influenza programme in primary and secondary schools across Ayrshire. This fixed‑term role focuses on providing safe, accessible nursing care to children and their families while supporting public health objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver flu immunisation services in schools within three localities, adapting hours (09:00‑13:00 or 09:00‑15:00) to school size.
• Ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred care and accurate record‑keeping for each immunisation episode.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including health visitors and school staff, to meet local public‑health needs.
• Travel to school sites safely, using a personal vehicle and a valid UK driving licence.
• Participate in public‑health initiatives aimed at reducing health inequalities among children.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered).
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience working with children, families, and community settings is desirable.

Required skills

• Immunisation administration.
• Clinical nursing assessment and care.
