Import Coordinator

About the role

The Import Coordinator will manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring smooth logistics from booking to final delivery. Reporting to the Import Manager, the role is office‑based in Witham and requires a personal vehicle for occasional travel to European sites.

Key responsibilities

• Manage inbound sea freight shipments and occasional air freight.
• Coordinate export shipments via sea freight.
• Handle shipments end‑to‑end, from booking through delivery.
• Open and manage jobs in the Cargowise system.
• Process customs entries and related documentation, including Traces and Port Health.
• Monitor shipment progress, proactively addressing delays or issues.
• Arrange transport, ensuring delivery requirements and bonded cargo handling.
• Complete job costings and invoicing.
• Maintain accurate system updates, reporting, and file sign‑off.
• Serve as a primary contact for customers, providing responsive service.
• Liaise with shipping lines, hauliers, agents, and internal teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in freight forwarding, managing shipments end‑to‑end.
• Strong understanding of import/export processes within a logistics environment.
• Commercial awareness and confidence to engage customers.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting and meet tight deadlines.
