Import Declarant – Customs Clearance Specialist

About the role

Join a growing logistics team in Aylesford as an Import Declarant. You will use your customs expertise to ensure smooth road import clearance and compliance with UK regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import declarations via CDS, CHIEF and related platforms.
• Classify goods accurately using the UK Trade Tariff and assign correct commodity codes.
• Review and verify import documentation such as invoices, packing lists, transport documents, licences and certificates.
• Liaise with HMRC, Port Health and other authorities to resolve clearance queries.
• Maintain records, support audit processes and ensure compliance with incoterms and import controls.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers and carriers to secure timely release of goods.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in full road import clearance.
• Strong knowledge of UK and EU customs procedures.
• Proficiency with CDS/CHIEF or similar customs declaration software.
• Good understanding of incoterms and international trade practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
