Import Manager – Freight Forwarding

About the role

Our client, a leading global freight forwarding and logistics provider, is seeking an experienced Import Manager to lead and develop its busy import operation at Heathrow. The role combines operational oversight, team leadership and commercial responsibility to ensure seamless import processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day activities of the Import department, ensuring compliance with HMRC and AEO regulations.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of import professionals.
• Monitor departmental performance, KPIs and P&L, driving continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers and overseas partners.
• Support business growth through operational excellence and customer engagement.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in freight forwarding or import operations.
• Proven management experience leading operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures and international freight forwarding.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and departmental performance.
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational abilities.
