Import Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading freight forwarding company, is seeking an experienced Import Manager to lead their import operations. The role is based in Colnbrook (with a future move to Feltham) and offers a full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all import, customs, and freight forwarding activities, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Manage departmental performance through KPIs, service levels, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Control budgets, cost structures and P&L performance for the import function.
• Act as the senior escalation point for operational, customs, compliance and customer service issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, customs authorities and overseas partners.
• Lead customer business reviews, support new customer implementations and collaborate with commercial teams to drive growth.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in import, customs, freight forwarding or logistics operations.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience leading operational teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven leadership skills, including coaching, performance management and succession planning.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and P&L.
• Excellent knowledge of international freight forwarding, air freight, multimodal transport and customs compliance.
