Inclusion Support Assistant – Personal Healthcare

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Inclusion Support Assistant to join the Inclusive Learning team at New College Swindon. The role provides personal healthcare and learning support to students with SEND, helping them develop confidence, independence and academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to learners with additional learning needs and disabilities.
• Provide personal care, mobility support, assistance with eating, medication administration and use of specialist equipment where required.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to suit individual needs and promote independence.
• Support development of literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Encourage positive attendance, behaviour and engagement in classroom and college life.
• Assist students during periods of change, transition and examinations, including Access Arrangements.
• Collaborate with lecturers, SEND practitioners and other support staff, contributing to student reviews and maintaining accurate records.

Required profile

• Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths, or a commitment to achieve them within an agreed timeframe.
• Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEND, learning differences, disabilities or sensory impairments.
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Good IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
