Inclusion Support Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated Inclusion Support Assistant to join its team from September 2026. You will work closely with teachers, the SEND team and pastoral staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support across a range of subjects.
• Assist pupils with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs to access the curriculum.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, resilience and independence.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals to implement tailored support strategies.
• Support intervention programmes aimed at improving academic progress, attendance and wellbeing.
• Build constructive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people and promoting inclusion.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Calm, patient and proactive approach when supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEND and SEMH frameworks.
• Experience delivering targeted academic and pastoral support.
