Inclusion Teacher – Maternity Cover

About the role

The Queen Katherine School, part of Cumbria Education Trust, is seeking an Inclusion Teacher on a maternity‑cover basis. You will work closely with the Head of School, SENDCO and pastoral staff to deliver a highly tailored curriculum for a small group of pupils with autism, speech, language and communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons across the QKS curriculum that meet both academic and social‑emotional goals.
• Provide targeted support in a dedicated resource provision and coordinate time spent in the main school timetable.
• Collaborate with internal and external specialists to create creative, enriching activities that promote social development.
• Monitor progress, assess needs and adjust individual learning plans accordingly.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour management and safeguarding in line with school policy.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher (PGCE, Cert Ed or B.Ed.) with experience in primary, secondary, special or AP settings.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Resilient, determined and committed to developing the whole child.
• Passionate about current research on thinking skills and learning power.

Required skills

• Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, B.Ed.).
