Individual Giving Officer (Retention & Mid-Value)
BirdLife International · Cambridge
Job description
About the role
BirdLife International, a global partnership conserving birds and all life on the planet, is looking for a data-driven Individual Giving Officer to join its Individual Giving team. The role splits its time between supporting the supporter retention programme and leading BirdLife's mid-value income programme (£1,000–£10,000 range). It reports to the Individual Giving and Supporter Care Manager and works with supporter care, major gifts, prospect research and communications. The position is based remotely in the UK with travel to the David Attenborough Building in Cambridge, 35 hours per week, open-ended contract.
Key responsibilities
- Support the supporter retention programme across cash giving, regular giving and other individual giving channels, and design supporter journeys and stewardship communications that deepen engagement and reduce attrition.
- Grow regular giving, including converting cash givers into regular supporters, and run multi-channel retention campaigns with the Communications team.
- Lead the mid-value programme: acquire, cultivate and retain donors giving £1,000–£10,000, and identify those who could move into the Major Gifts pipeline.
- Deliver personalised stewardship, and write tailored communications, proposals and impact reports for mid-value donors.
- Set and monitor income and engagement targets for the mid-value programme.
- Maintain accurate donor and campaign records in Raiser's Edge or an equivalent CRM, in line with data protection and fundraising compliance.
- Analyse retention and mid-value data to inform planning and decision-making.
Required profile
- Proven experience in individual giving, donor retention or mid-value fundraising.
- Experience managing multi-channel campaigns such as direct mail, email, digital and telephone.
- Ability to analyse campaign and donor data and to manage a donor portfolio with cultivation or stewardship plans.
- Highly organised, evidence-based, results-focused self-starter.
Required skills
- Raiser's Edge or a comparable fundraising CRM.
- Data analysis and campaign management.
What we offer
- Salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus a 12% pension benefit.
- Hybrid working, with the option to work in the Cambridge conservation campus.
- 25 days holiday in year 1, rising to 28 days.
- LinkedIn Learning, cycle to work scheme and Employee Assistance Programme.
