Individual Needs Assistant – Primary School (Rustington)

About the role

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Rustington to recruit an Individual Needs Assistant. The role provides dedicated one‑to‑one support for a pupil with additional learning and social needs throughout the term‑time, helping the child thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 assistance to the designated pupil during classroom activities.
• Adapt learning tasks and resources to meet the pupil’s individual requirements.
• Promote independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO and the wider support team.
• Maintain a calm, encouraging and child‑centred approach at all times.
• Support the pupil’s integration into classroom routines and broader school life.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, especially those with SEND.
• Patient, nurturing and resilient attitude.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Confidence in following established educational and behavioural strategies.
• Good communication skills and reliability.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check or be registered on the Update Service.
