Industrial Designer – New Product Development

About the role

We are seeking an Industrial Designer to join our New Product Development team within a consumer‑products business focused on outdoor and lifestyle items. The role blends aesthetic ambition with commercial and manufacturing realities, ensuring our product range is visually compelling, user‑friendly, and brand‑consistent.

Key responsibilities

• Apply and maintain a consistent design language across a wide product portfolio.
• Evaluate factory samples and define targeted design improvements to meet brand standards.
• Produce high‑quality visualisations, CMF specifications, and technical packs for suppliers.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and buying teams to ensure products are functional, durable, and commercially viable.
• Balance project scope and timelines, deciding when a light touch versus a full redesign is required.
• Oversee user experience and perceived quality across hardware, assembly, and use.
• Design, build, and test mechanical prototypes when needed.

Required profile

• Degree in Industrial Design or Product Design.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating form, branding, and product detail.
• Experience in fast‑paced product development environments.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and cost/lead‑time trade‑offs.
• Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and overseas suppliers.

Required skills

• SolidWorks or Rhino (CAD tools).
• Keyshot (visualisation).
• Adobe Suite (visual design).
