Infection Control Nurse

About the role
The Infection Control Nurse will join the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) at University Hospital Crosshouse. This permanent, full‑time position (36 hours per week) supports the hospital’s commitment to a safe, caring and respectful environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct and report on infection control audits across clinical areas.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate education and training sessions for staff.
- Prepare audit reports, action plans and follow‑up documentation.
- Collaborate with the Infection Control Nurse Team Lead and multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of NHS Scotland HAI agenda and national guidelines.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse (Band 5 or equivalent) with current clinical experience.
- Evidence of post‑registration education and a commitment to obtain an Infection Control qualification (diploma, degree or master’s level).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid UK driving licence and own transport.
Required skills
- Infection control auditing and report writing.
- Design and delivery of staff education and training.
- Proficiency with standard IT tools for documentation and presentation.
