Infection Control Nurse

About the role

The Infection Control Nurse will join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at University Hospital Crosshouse. This permanent, 36‑hour per week position reports to the Infection Control Nurse Team Lead and works closely with clinical staff to minimise healthcare‑associated infections.

Key responsibilities

• Participate as a core member of the IPCT, contributing to the development and implementation of infection control policies.
• Conduct, analyse and report on infection control audits, producing actionable recommendations.
• Design and deliver education and training sessions for hospital staff, including presentations and written materials.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of NHS Scotland HAI agenda, national guidelines and policies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate infection control theory into everyday practice.

Required profile

• First‑level registered nurse with current clinical experience.
• Evidence of post‑registration education and a commitment to obtain an infection control qualification (diploma, degree or master’s level).
• Proven experience in audit reporting and in delivering staff education and training.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid UK driving licence and own transport.
