Infection Control Nurse (Permanent, 36 hrs/week)

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking an Infection Control Nurse to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at University Hospital Crosshouse. This permanent, 36‑hour per week position supports the delivery of safe, caring, and respectful patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Work as a core member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team, reporting to the Infection Control Nurse Team Lead.
• Undertake, analyse and report on infection control audits, producing action plans.
• Develop, deliver and evaluate education and training sessions for staff, including presentations.
• Apply national infection control guidelines and NHS Scotland HAI agenda to daily practice.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (1st level) with current clinical experience.
• Evidence of post‑registration education and training.
• Commitment to obtain an Infection Control qualification at diploma, degree or master’s level.
• Practical experience of audit reporting and delivering staff education.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NHS Scotland HAI agenda and national infection control policies.
