Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

About the role

Ramsay Health Care is seeking an enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead Nurse to work across Cherwell Hospital in Banbury and Blakelands Hospital in Milton Keynes. The role involves providing evidence‑based IPC advice, leading surveillance programmes and ensuring high standards of infection safety for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead surveillance, prevention and control of infection across two hospital sites.
• Promote and maintain high standards of IPC practice.
• Deliver mandatory training in IPC, Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique (ANTT).
• Provide education and mentorship to multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop and update policies, procedures and audit reports.
• Conduct surgical site infection surveillance and contribute to the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a degree or equivalent experience.
• Current NMC registration.
• Teaching and assessing qualification or demonstrable experience.
• Recent experience in an acute surgical care environment.
• Knowledge of IPC practice at ward or departmental level.

Required skills

• Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) expertise.
• Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique (ANTT) training.
• Surgical site infection surveillance.
• Audit and surveillance reporting.
• Policy and procedure writing.
• Familiarity with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
