Infection Prevention & Control Nurse – Cross‑site Lead

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead Nurse to work across Cherwell Hospital in Banbury and Blakelands Hospital in Milton Keynes. The role involves providing evidence‑based IPC advice, leading surveillance and prevention activities, and ensuring high standards of safety for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead surveillance, prevention and control of infections across both hospital sites.
• Promote and maintain high standards of IPC practice, including hand hygiene and aseptic non‑touch technique.
• Deliver mandatory training in IPC, hand hygiene and ANTT to multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct audits, produce reports and contribute to policy and procedure development.
• Participate in surgical site infection surveillance and patient safety incident response frameworks.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse, degree‑level education or equivalent experience.
• Current NMC registration.
• Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
• Recent experience in an acute surgical care environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development in IPC.
