Information Governance Officer – Customer Service (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive, detail‑oriented Information Governance Officer to support a local authority on a temporary basis. Working closely with the Information Governance Manager, you will help ensure the Council complies with UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and Transparency Code requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Information Governance Manager with day‑to‑day governance activities.
• Monitor and update the Council’s Transparency Code information on the website.
• Provide basic information‑governance advice to colleagues across the organisation.
• Liaise with internal departments, external bodies and the Information Commissioner’s Office.
• Support the processing, monitoring and tracking of data‑protection and UK GDPR requests.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and meet statutory deadlines.

Required profile

• Previous administrative experience in an office environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Understanding of UK GDPR or information‑governance principles is advantageous but not essential.

What we offer

• £14.59 per hour, full‑time (37 hours per week).
