Infrastructure & Security Engineer

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established organisation in Central London to strengthen its technology function. The Infrastructure & Security Engineer will own the design, delivery and support of a modern, multi‑site infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, resilient and scalable for critical business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for infrastructure and security technologies.
• Maintain and optimise Microsoft environments including Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Support and enhance virtualised infrastructure using VMware.
• Manage network infrastructure – switching, routing, wireless and firewalls.
• Lead vulnerability management, security remediation and compliance initiatives.
• Support identity and access management, endpoint security and threat protection.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing and business continuity.
• Collaborate with internal teams and third‑party suppliers to deliver improvements.
• Secure end‑user technologies across corporate, retail and operational environments, including device deployment via Intune and Autopilot.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, standards and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar role.
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure background (Windows Server, AD, Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune).
• Hands‑on experience with VMware virtualisation.
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls).
• Experience in vulnerability management, endpoint security and patch management.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, MFA and role‑based access controls.
• Experience supporting backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to communicate with technical and business stakeholders.
