Inquests Solicitor – Manchester – Up to £75k

About the role

We are seeking an Inquests Solicitor to join a specialist team in Manchester, handling nationally significant inquest and Court of Protection matters for NHS and other health and social care organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of inquests and Court of Protection cases, primarily for NHS clients.
• Conduct advocacy at hearings, often without counsel, and provide case management throughout.
• Advise on health and social care issues including mental health, capacity, safeguarding and deprivation of liberty.
• Support serious medical treatment, welfare disputes and Human Rights Act matters.
• Supervise and delegate work to junior team members where appropriate.
• Contribute to client training, seminars and business development initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with clients, including opportunities for short‑term secondments.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in inquests and/or Court of Protection work.
• Ability to manage an independent caseload with appropriate supervision.
• Confidence in advocacy and case management.
• Interest in health and social care law and public‑sector clients.
• Excellent communication, drafting and analytical abilities.
• Organised with strong deadline, priority and billing management.
