Inspector ATS (Operations)

About the role

The UK Civil Aviation Authority is seeking an Inspector ATS (Operations) to provide regulatory oversight of Air Traffic Management (ATM) arrangements at allocated Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and ATS sites. You will work across Gatwick, Manchester or Stirling, ensuring the aviation sector meets the highest safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct audits and inspections of ANSPs and ATS providers in line with UK legislation and the UK Air Navigation Order.
• Act as Technical Specialist in the Performance Based Oversight process, delivering safety‑performance intelligence.
• Assess competence of licensed operational staff for ATS licence renewals and endorsements.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve regulatory performance objectives.
• Participate in incident investigations and support CAAi contracts as required.
• Deputise for the Principal Inspector ATM and contribute to training new inspectors.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of UK and international aviation safety legislation and standards.
• Experience in conducting regulatory audits or inspections within the aviation sector.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret safety data and performance metrics.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple locations and maintain at least 40% office attendance.
