Instrument Pipe Fitter

About the role

Join a leading gas infrastructure organisation as an Instrument Pipe Fitter, working on UK-wide transmission and distribution projects. You will install and commission stainless‑steel instrumentation tubing systems, ensuring safety and engineering standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Install and assemble small‑bore stainless‑steel tubing for instrumentation.
• Manufacture, route and fit tubing using approved techniques.
• Fit manifolds, transmitters, gauges and related equipment.
• Prepare tubing – cutting, bending, flaring and compression fitting.
• Interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings and instrument documentation.
• Support pressure and leak testing activities.
• Assist commissioning teams with instrument hook‑ups and project completion.
• Maintain accurate installation records and project documentation.
• Travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Instrument Pipe Fitter in gas, utilities, oil & gas or petrochemical environments.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings and P&IDs.
• Full UK driving licence.
• CCNSG Safety Passport or ECS Card, EUSR registration, SCO Core, COMPEX, IPAF and PASMA certifications.

Required skills

• Installation of small‑bore stainless‑steel instrumentation tubing.
• Compression fitting using Swagelok, Parker or similar systems.
• Cutting, bending, flaring and fitting of tubing.
• Reading and interpreting P&IDs and isometric drawings.
• Pressure and leak testing of instrument systems.
