Instrumentation Field Service Engineer

About the role

As an Instrumentation Field Service Engineer you will provide hands‑on maintenance and technical support to keep production assets operating reliably. You will work both independently and with a supportive team in a fast‑paced, modern maintenance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality instrumentation maintenance, installation and repair services.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance to avoid unplanned downtime.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, statutory and regulatory standards.
• Manage budgets and maintain financial control of maintenance activities.
• Provide accurate asset performance and repair data for corporate reporting.
• Analyse root causes of recurring issues and recommend long‑term solutions.

Required profile

• Time‑served apprentice or equivalent with relevant academic qualifications.
• Full UK driving licence (mobile role).
• Proven field service experience in electrical maintenance or engineering, preferably in utilities or process environments.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving abilities across electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
• Familiarity with flow, level and measurable instruments, especially in water or wastewater processes.
• Solid understanding of safe work systems, risk assessments and permit‑to‑work procedures.
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with on‑site teams and contractors.
