Interim Accountant

About the role

Global Accounting Network is partnering with a manufacturing business to hire an interim accountant on a 1‑year day‑rate contract, with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent as the company expands. The role requires full UK working rights and the ability to start within two weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close, including accruals, pre‑payments, trial balance review, profit & loss preparation and variance analysis.
• Prepare monthly management report slides covering sales and operating expenditure.
• Manage accounts payable, process supplier invoices and track deposits.
• Handle accounts receivable, raise invoices to internal and external customers and perform credit control.
• Execute bank payments in GBP, EUR and USD, perform bank reconciliations and plan weekly multi‑currency payments.
• Process inter‑company transactions and reconcile across four group entities.
• Submit financial statements to internal and external stakeholders such as banks, lenders and manufacturers.
• Manage quarterly VAT returns and track internal and external loans.
• Support audit queries at year‑end and assist with year‑end close.
• Contribute to budget preparation and cash‑flow forecasting.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of accounting experience, preferably in financial or management accounting.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts for at least one legal entity.
• Strong knowledge of UK VAT regulations and hands‑on experience submitting quarterly returns.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑currency transactions.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and Excel.
• Pursuing a professional qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA is a plus.
