About the role
Grant Thornton is seeking an experienced Interim Accountant to support its public‑sector clients, primarily local government organisations. The role is contract‑based, hybrid, and offers the flexibility to choose assignments that match your expertise.
Key responsibilities
- Provide accounting and finance support to council and local government clients on short‑ to medium‑term projects.
- Assist with finance function remediation, audit support, and change programmes.
- Deliver accurate financial reporting and ensure compliance with public‑sector accounting standards.
- Collaborate with client finance teams and Grant Thornton’s CFO Solutions specialists.
Required profile
- Fully qualified member of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
- Proven experience working within the accounting and finance function of a council or other local government entity.
- Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to adapt to varied project scopes.
