Interim Additional Learning Support Manager (10-week contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Additional Learning Support Manager to join a leading Further Education college in London for an initial 10‑week period, with the possibility of extension. The role provides operational leadership during a busy phase, ensuring high‑quality support for learners with SEND and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery of Additional Learning Support across the college.
• Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP requirements and Local Authority processes.
• Oversee deployment, timetabling and management of Learning Support staff.
• Monitor learner attendance, progress, achievement, retention and progression.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams to align support with learner needs.
• Drive quality‑improvement initiatives and support staff development.
• Ensure annual reviews and support plans are completed to a high standard.
• Manage relationships with Local Authorities, parents/carers and external agencies.
• Support achievement of performance, funding and budgetary targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing Additional Learning Support or SEND provision within Further Education.
• Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEND legislation and funding methodologies.
• Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams.
• Track record of improving learner outcomes and service quality.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Relevant degree and/or professional qualification (desirable).

Required skills

• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP requirements.
• Understanding of funding methodologies for SEND provision.
