Interim Deputy Headteacher – Specialist School (Milton Keynes)

About the role

Academics is seeking an experienced and passionate interim deputy headteacher to join a growing specialist school in Milton Keynes. The school provides inclusive education for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition and complex needs, supporting pupils aged 5‑16 with Education, Health and Care Plans.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Headteacher in day‑to‑day leadership and management of the school.
• Lead teaching and learning, curriculum development and monitor pupil progress.
• Line‑manage staff, promote high standards and professional growth.
• Contribute to school improvement planning and self‑evaluation.
• Champion safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, families, governors and external professionals.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience within a school setting.
• Strong experience supporting pupils with SEMH and complex needs.
• Commitment to inclusive education and raising attainment for all learners.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
