Interim Finance Manager

About the role

This temporary position supports a public‑sector organisation in the north Birmingham area. As the interim Finance Manager you will act as the primary liaison between on‑site leadership and the senior finance team, delivering accurate financial monitoring, budgeting and forecasting throughout the assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, budget and forecast monitoring reports.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end procedures, including purchase order reconciliation, pre‑payments, accruals and income tracking.
• Lead monthly meetings to discuss budget performance and forecasting.
• Develop and update annual budgets and forecasts as required.
• Conduct supplier checks and other back‑office verifications.
• Manage and develop one junior staff member.

Required profile

• Proven experience in finance management, preferably within the public sector.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with senior leaders.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
