Interim Financial Controller (Part‑time, Temporary) – Salisbury

About the role

You will join a fast‑growing SME on an interim basis as the Financial Controller, based in Salisbury. The role combines hands‑on finance delivery with strategic input, supporting the Managing Director and senior leadership team in a dynamic, customer‑led environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of financial control, including accounts management, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Produce accurate monthly management reports with insightful commentary across multiple revenue streams.
• Oversee statutory accounts, audit processes and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC requirements.
• Support pricing, margin analysis and strategic investment decisions through robust financial modelling.
• Drive improvements in working capital, cash flow and financial systems.
• Enhance financial controls and lead process improvements to enable scalability.
• Manage and develop a small finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to drive performance, profitability and informed decision‑making.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven senior finance experience within an SME or owner‑managed business.
• Commercially astute with strong stakeholder influencing skills.
• Track record of driving change, improving processes and implementing financial controls.
• Confident team leader capable of motivating a small finance team.
• Highly analytical with strong financial modelling and reporting capability.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
