Interim Financial Reporting Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Reporting Manager to provide immediate cover for a London‑based professional services business during a period of significant change. This hands‑on contract role will require rapid integration, ownership of key financial processes and leadership of the finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the year‑end audit process end‑to‑end, managing timelines, preparing work‑papers and acting as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Prepare statutory accounts and disclosures in line with relevant accounting standards.
• Own the month‑end close, including journals, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce timely management accounts with P&L analysis and balance‑sheet reviews.
• Maintain day‑to‑day financial accounting activities and strong internal controls.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex or non‑routine transactions.
• Support tax, VAT and other statutory filings to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve finance processes as the function scales.
• Manage multi‑entity, multi‑currency accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
• Play a key role in ERP implementation, data migration, testing and process optimisation.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to wider finance function development.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with post‑qualification experience.
• Background in practice with strong external audit experience.
• Proven experience preparing statutory financial statements and managing year‑end audits.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including VAT and financial reporting.
• Experience in a multi‑entity, multi‑currency environment.
